Ethical hacking, often referred to as penetration testing or white-hat
hacking, plays a crucial role in the enhancement of information systems security.
This scholarly article delves into the dual dimensions of ethical hacking,
encompassing its legal and technical aspects. The technical aspect focuses on
methods and tools employed by ethical hackers to identify vulnerabilities in systems,
while the legal dimension emphasizes the importance of regulatory compliance, data
protection laws, and the ethical implications of such activities. Through an
exploration of these dimensions, this article aims to highlight the critical balance
between maintaining cybersecurity and adhering to legal frameworks, specifically in
the context of Pakistan. In doing so, it provides a comprehensive understanding of
the ethical, legal, and technical challenges faced by cybersecurity professionals
today.
